CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES

The Global Education Monitoring Report has a twin mandate from the Education 2030 framework for action: to monitor progress on education in the sustainable development goals and to report on implementation of national and international education strategies to help hold partners accountable for their commitments. To better fulfil its mandate, the GEM Report has developed PEER, an online resource providing systematic, comprehensive information on national laws and policies.

The profiles are intended to motivate national policy dialogue and regional peer learning on SDG 4 issues. They respond to countries’ interest in exchanging comparable, up-to-date education system information to enrich their perspectives on solutions to challenges. The profiles can also facilitate monitoring of policy trends.
